1. Saarland University

Saarland University is a modern university in the Saar-Lor-Lux region – a dynamic part in the heart of Europe defined by the common borders of Germany, France and Luxembourg. Saarland University has been distinctively internationally oriented ever since it has been established in cooperation with France in 1948.

Today, about 17.000 students are being enrolled at Saarland University, including the faculty of medicine in Homburg. 20 % of these are international students.

Despite Saarland being Germany's smallest federal State, Saarland University hosts many key institutes dealing with Informatics and Information Technology.

Saarland University campus is home to two separate Max Planck Institutes, the German Centre for IT Security, Privacy & Accountability (CISPA), the German Research Centre for Artificial Intelligence (DFKI) as well as the Institute of Legal Informatics.
